This is a subject I would like to talk more about on Jimmerish, but I doubt I will. However, I will let everyone know what is #1 on my list.
Apple Computer.
I can't get over the amount of articles I see that talk about Apple's amazing marketing skills when they are the biggest failure of all time. There is a lot that can be written on this subject but I'm only going to talk about the last 5 years,
Why one Earth every iPod box ever sold did not contain a beautiful little brochure that shows off Apple 's periphery products I will never know. Imagine the halo effect that would be created if Apple showed off the iMac, Mac Mini, iLife and Mac OS X in a neat and simple little brochure tucked within the iPod box. Anybody who ever used to collect Lego knows exactly what an impact these little brochures can do to your christmas wish list.
I mean, its not like they are afraid of alieninating their customers with advertising. Have you seen the iTunes mini store?
One thing is for sure, the iPod is the coolest consumer product around, its that simple. It should be the easiest product to market and it should easily inspire amazingly creative promotions. Yet, for the last three years Apple continues to use annoymous people dancing with bright colours to promote its hit product. Surely there could have been hundreds of amazingly creative promotional campaigns for the iPod and yet still retain the same remarkable brand.
